Party Style: Princess Baking Party

I mentioned awhile back that I was planning a Princess Baking Party for Mia’s 6th Birthday! I searched the Internet, pinterest and found some great ideas! On March 18th, Mia turned six and we also had her party on the same day. We had 12 girls and 2 boys to our house for some baking fun! We kicked off the party taking pictures in the photo booth! I am glad that I decided to do this because I made sure to get a picture of each girl at the party. It seems I usually get caught up in the actually party and forget to take photos! I was better this time around.

I ordered hats and aprons for each of the girls. I made the famous Martha Stewart flower pom poms and now am obsessed with them! If you are interested in making these pom poms, I highly recommend watching this great tutorial I found on YouTube. When doing my research on baking parties I came across the AMAZING baking party that One Charming Party put together. I fell in love with the cupcake liner flower and knew immediately these would be on make “to make” list. I picked up  adorable Martha Stewart gingham cupcake liners at Michael’s. Once I started making my first flower, I decided to create my own flower creation. A tutorial will be up later this week.

The girls started the baking party by making sugar cookies with their initials. I was lucky enough to have my friend Cindi assisting myself and the girls throughout the party! Cindi taught the girls how to make dropped cookies. (By the way I highly recommend this cookie recipe! The cookies were awesome!) Each girl had the chance to pour or mix in an ingredient. The girls were given chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and pastel m&m’s to put into their cookies and make their own creations!

I wanted to create a party that didn’t break the bank but also was age appropriate and kept the girls entertained the entire time! We played Hot Potato while opening up the gifts. The person holding the potato (or in our case a spatula) when the music stopped, had Mia open their gift. It was a great way to make gift opening fun!

Mia has wanted a Barbie cake since she was 2 years old. We suprised her with her dream cake for her 6th Birthday!

This mama is still tired from the party but my little girl had an awesome time and that is all that matters to me!
