Summer vacation season is underway and we are on the hunt for exciting books and apps to keep the kids entertained while we travel. One of our new favorite apps is Penelope the Purple Pirate!
Written by Melissa Northway, Penelope the Purple Pirate is a fun story that demonstrates the power of imagination. With highlighted words read aloud, Penelope the Purple Pirate is great for any child who enjoys listening to stories all the way up to children reading independently.
My girls – two and five – love to use the iPad on their own. They are drawn to Penelope the Purple Pirate and ask for it during story time before bed.
Anything that can keep my kids’ attention like that gets a huge thumbs up from me!

I remember reading Hop on Pop to my oldest son when he was younger. Thank you
Gosh, we read so many together… He loved the Farm Animals and Puppies books that we had but really enjoyed just hanging out, reading and looking at pictures or watching movies.. I miss him being little. He just turned 22 on June 8th. All those books we read… tucked away in my spare room to be passed on to his child(ren).

Little House Hotel!
My sons love for me to read this book called Adele and Simon. It is an older book about a boy who keeps losing his things. It’s cute.
