movie review: Won’t Back Down

Won't Back Down
A few weeks ago I had the privalege of attending an advance screening of the new movie Won’t Back Down.  Here’s a synopsis of the movie:  Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis play two determined mothers, one a teacher, who will stop at nothing to transform their children’s failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children.  The film is inspired by the work of dedicated parents, teachers and advocates across the country.

I loved this movie.  Loved.

Won’t Back Down is inspirational and got me even more motivated to be involved in the school and our community.  This movie is a must see if you are a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent or educator.  In the days when the Chicago teachers are striking and the debate about Unions continues to be making headlines, there could not be a more revelevant movie coming to theaters on Friday.

You might shed a tear or two during Won’t Back Down, but in the end you will stand up and cheer.  Won’t Back Down reminds us  that a parent can make a difference.  You can make a difference.  Won’t Back Down is getting the conversation started because EVERY child deserves the best.
