Alright, Girls. And by girls I mean Moms. It’s time to go bold. It’s time to stand out. It’s time to be a Rock Star even if you are at Target or the bus stop.
Don’t be afraid. It’s easy, I’m going to walk you through it.
First, pick your favorite color jeans. There are tons to choose from. Go bold, be daring! There are a few tips coming a little later on in the post that will help you tip toe into this trend even if you are wearing fuschia pants!
Next, decide if you want to go bright or neutral with your top and choose from a blouse,
tunic,
blazer,
or sweater.
Next we’ll add in shoes. If you want just a peep of color, go with a tunic and riding boots to minimize the bold legs. If you really want to stand out, go for a shorter top and flats.
For shoes, pick from riding boots
ballet flats
or booties.
Lastly we’ll add in a scarf
or long necklace
and you have your complete look!
To recap: Colored jeans with a blouse/blazer/tunic/sweater plus riding boots/ballet flats/booties with a scarf/long necklace and you have a super easy way to rock this fall’s hottest trend. And still be comfortable enough to chase the kids at the park!
The colored jeans in this post are the Rock Star Jeans from Old Navy. Everything featured in the Moms’ Guide to Wearing Colored Denim can be found at OldNavy.com.

Viva la Violette
I have NO colored jeans and no skinny jeans in my closet. As a plus size girl, those are two things that scare the bejeebers out of me!
Heather, you can do it! A tunic and riding boots is a great way to balance out colored skinny jeans. The Old Navy Rockstars and Sweethearts are very flattering. Start off in a grey or brown to ease into it!
I started out just by adding a grey and black pair to the mix, which isn’t earth shattering I know, but it gets you used to styling different coloured denim rather than a blue all the time. Then I got an electric yellow pair in spring. I don’t wear them as much as blue denim but every time I do wear them I get compliments. Heeled booties or tall boots definitely make it work for me.
Go Jane! Grey is a great way to ease into the trend.
