Hello Kitty parties are super popular right now and we have received more comments, emails, facebook messages and tweets about the Hello Kitty Goodie Bag than maybe any other topic.  Ever. hello kitty goodie bag tutorial

E's grandmother, my mom put these bags together for her 4th birthday almost a year ago.  While they look adorable and charming, they are extremely easy to make.  Here's what you need:

  • oval punch
  • black and yellow construction paper
  • white handled gift bags
  • scrapbook paper of your choice for bow
  • glue stick
  • ribbon and stickers optional

Step 1: Punch out two black ovals and one yellow oval for each goodie bag.

Step 2: Cut out 4 long rectangles and two shorter rectangles out of black construction paper for whiskers.

Step 3: Use your scrapbook paper to cut out the bow.  If you need a template, print the above photo and cut the bow out, trace on your paper and cut, cut, cut.

Step 4:  Glue.  Glue the whiskers to the edge of the bag, letting them hang off the edge just a bit.  Glue the black ovals for eyes vertical and the yellow oval for the nose horizontal.  Position the bow on an angle just above on eye.

Step 5:  If you chose to use a gift tag, attach it to the handle with ribbon of your choice.  Also if you would like to give the bow and nose a little more definition, outline in black marker.
