Today my little Madeline turns three.  The baby of our family went to her first ballet class yesterday and is turning into a girl right before our eyes.  Because her birthday also happens to be one of the busiest times of the year, we celebrated two weekends ago with a Mermaid Party Under the Sea!

My mom, a retired art teacher, painted the sandwich board sign to match the invitation.  It greeted guests and welcomed them to the backyard for the under water party!

Banners were everywhere!  This "Happy Birthday" banner is part of the Anders Ruff printable party kit.

Glass milk bottles wrapped with ribbon and party circles with fun paper straws made every drink a little more fun.

It was HOT so all food was served inside the house.  The food table was flanked with original mermaids on canvas and decorated with more banners, ribbon and shells.

Back outside, drinks were waiting to be poured and favors handed out.

CUPCAKES!  Anders Ruff cupcake toppers were perfectly coordinated with the rest of the party papers.

So I might be a little obsessed with how those bottles turned out...

Fish dangled from inside the white tent that also had blue tulle hanging over the blue picnic table to create the under the sea feel for the kids.

Under water accessories were everywhere!  Shells, pennants, even Madeline's name had fish scales!

Don't drink the pool water!  These water bottle labels tied the theme through all of the beverages.  It's a good thing we made a lot of these, have I mentioned it was really HOT?

What's a party without a Pinata?  This cutie came from Party City with stick and blindfold to match.

Photo Booths are fun for every party!  It's a great way to ensure a pic of all of the guests at the party and are fun to add into thank you notes!

Every mermaid deserves a crown!  These hand painted and jeweled crowns for the girls also worked well for the photo booth.  Girls also received a long strand of pearls to take home while the boys donned pirate hats with treasure and temporary tattoos.  Madeline wanted something to "pass out when my friends leave" so a vintage pink lunch box filled with lollipops worked well for our little mermaid to pass out when guests were heading home.
