We all know and love Aden & Anais for their fantastic and super soft muslin swaddle blankets, sleep sacks and sheets. So I was excited to learn that they now have a “mum + bub” skincare line, though admittedly I was initially skeptical since linens are their forté! I’ve been very careful about the shampoos, body wash and lotions that my children use, sticking to products that are paraben and pthalate free. Good news! Mum + bub is free of parabens, pthalates, sulfates, petrochemicals, gluten and soy and was created with the help of NY dermatologist, Dr. Ellen Gendler. The products contain pawpaw fruit (found in Australia, similar to a papaya) which contain an enzyme known for skin conditioning, while the body wash and lotion are lightly scented with sandalwood.
I decided to conduct a little experiment this month and use only the mum + bub products (hair and body wash, the body lotion and the soothing ointment). What I will say is, I am no longer a skeptic. Here’s the breakdown:
mum + bub hair and body wash: smells great (though may not be for everyone, but we love), tear free, and gentle on hair. This was key, since we were looking to switch from our loyal brand since it really was drying out my daughter’s hair. I also used it regularly and loved it!
ultra gentle lotion: smells great, soothing, not greasy, absorbs well and a little goes a long way.
soothing ointment: Last but not least, this is the gem of the bunch in my opinion. It’s so incredibly versatile, not only did we use it for diaper rashes, we used it for chapped lips, to treat a burn mark and scar (mommy oops while making bread, don’t tell Martha!) and even for my dog’s chapped nose! Seriously, everyone in our household has used it for one thing or another during the course of the month. Also, for those averse to sandalwood, or scents, this one has very faint traces of vanilla. It’s available in a jar and a smaller tube...buy both! One will always be in my diaper bag and at home. This is an absolute must have!
Have you tried the new mum + bub skincare line?
