I really wanted to create a room for my daughter Milla that was ultra feminine and girly while being chic at the same time. Since my husband proposed to me years ago on top of the Eiffel Tower, a Paris nursery is special to our family! I wanted Milla’s nursery to remind us of all our Parisian memories and transport us back to France. I think with little girls’ rooms it is so easy to go overboard with frills and pink. I wanted to make sure that I stayed with simple lines and used mainly white and warm grays to keep the nursery sophisticated. As it is a children’s room I didn’t want the décor of the space to fight with all the bright colors of the books and toys that will eventually fill the whole room.
The gray Stokke Sleepi crib is a hand me down from my son and was such a great investment. I went with the soft gray color since is such a great neutral shade and really works well with so many decors. The Andalusia rug from West Elm ties the room together really well and hides the carpet that we inherited that I’m not crazy about. Luckily I painted the room a pretty taupe-gray when we moved into the house (the room used to be a guest room) and is perfect for the nursery. My amazing friend made Milla a personalized print to go with the room and I painted little watercolor paintings of the Eiffel Tower and some British icons to match.
I wanted to make sure that the room would grow with her into her teenage years and not be too childish. I love that the room is so soft and calming and really the perfect space for a girl to be a girl. Milla’s nursery is definitely my favorite room in our house!
