Inevitably the best trends and clothes come out when you are pregnant. Unfortunately, your shape is changing on a daily basis, and you won't know what will fit you next week much less next month! Although maternity wear poses a challenge when following fall trends, there is no need to completely ditch the amazing looks that are popping up everywhere. Here are three fabulous fall maternity trends you can still follow while pregnant! Menswear
Menswear has never truly gone out of style, but it is making a major statement on the runways this fall. The best way to work with this trend is to focus on the fit and balance. Obviously, you won't be able to button up your best blazer, but it can be worn open with a great tie neck maternity shirt. Tailored trousers can be tough, but I invested in a pair of basic black maternity pants that I wore on a weekly basis. As for balance, even out the hard lines with at least one feminine piece- a lace shirt under a suit coat or a great pair of bright pumps!
Yes, you read it right, pastels are IN for fall! Although this seems like the anti-fall color palette, it can look clean and refreshing when done right. Here's the great thing- if you are in your 2nd or 3rd trimester and already have a selection of pastel summer wear to choose from, you can incorporate them into your wardrobe! An ultra soft pastel scarf can add a spark of color to a basic outfit- think baby blue scarf with black pants and sweater, and tack on a silver belt or chunky silver jewelry to complete the look. Pale pink looks stunning with navy. If you keep pastels above the waist and darker colors below, it automatically creates a slimming illusion.
When I think of fall colors, I tend to conjure up images of maroon sweaters, army green coats and navy scarves. Jewel tones are a great twist on the fall classics- instead of army green, try emerald. Swap sapphire for navy and ruby for maroon. You can also throw gold accents in with most jewel tones and they will make your outfit that much richer!
BONUS: bracelets, necklaces, purses, headbands, scarves, hats, gloves, extra long belts, earrings, nail polish, makeup and watches can ALL be worn no matter how many pounds you gain or lose, so splurge on these items if you can!
