Pantone recently revealed their pick for color of the year 2014, and it is definitely a standout: Radiant Orchid. 2013 was Emerald, which stood for "growth, renewal and prosperity;" Radiant Orchid represents "creativity and originality."

Color of the Year 2014

Last year, I did purchase my fair share of Emerald items- mainly because I have always loved the deep, rich precious stone's hue. As for Radiant Orchid, which is a blend of fuchsia, purple and pink, I don't find it nearly as versatile or classic. However, I am tempted to grab a few pieces that will brighten up my neutrals and play well with blues and greens in addition to light yellow!

Take a look at some of the classic and unexpected pairings.

I put together three looks of basic pieces that most women have some version of in their closet. If you add a Radiant Orchid piece, it truly livens up the look!

Modcloth Junior Stylist Coat, Topshop Crepe Seam Flip Dress, Jessica Simpson Calie Pumps
Calvin Klein Long-Sleeve Button-Down, Current/Elliott Combat low-rise skinny jeans, Pointelle Knit Cashmere Infinity Scarf, Blue Nile Petite Hoop Earrings, A.V. Max Gold and Curb Chain Cuff Bracelet, Ivanka Trump Rebecca Textured Satchel

How will you wear Pantone's 2014 Color of the Year?
