As the weather warms up here in Chicago, many of us get the travel bug. We emerge from hibernation and realize that yes- there are so many things to see and do! Personally, I use this time to start planning fall and winter travel. I recently attended the Jet Set: Travel in Style Media Event hosted by So Chic Media. The sponsor list was outstanding- everything thing you need to travel in style!

The event MC was Colleen Kelly of the Family Travel Channel and located at Kevin Hammett Photography. He shared some of his favorite travel photo tips:

  • Think outside the postcard pictures- recreate the experiences through your photographs!
  • Capture the emotions of your travel companions.
  • Life is art so display your travel photos: one large canvas, gallery wall, or buy a frame while traveling to hold your favorite travel memory.

My first stop was the CooliBar clothing rack. Their huge selection of clothing for men, women and kids have a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) of 50+. I have been looking for a sun hat as well, and was thrilled to have won both a hat AND unbelievably chic tunic! Here is a photo of Colleen Kelly, Alison Ray of So Chic Media and I with my new summer style.

Next was HomeAway. My husband and I are planning a trip to Napa and are looking for a comfortable, reasonably-priced place to stay in the Valley. They helped me search online for the perfect rental, and pointed out how fabulous it would be to rent a house for a multi-family trip (um...yes please!). BTW, they own VRBO, so a very similar process.

I had to stop at Sunology when I heard that there was a natural sunscreen that WORKS. I have found a lot of natural products fall short of my expectations, but this couldn't be further from the truth with Sunology. I tested the products on my incredibly fair kids the next weekend, and couldn't be happier with the results. I was able to meet Richard Doermer, the founder of Sunology, and hear his story. He was diagnosed with basil cell carcinoma after faithfully using chemical sunscreens daily for 26 years. He then developed this safe, effective sunscreen using natural ingredients. I'm in love with it.

Next on my tour was a spiked lemonade from Honest Tea! So Chic created these adorable mugs with chalkboard labels. Honest Tea just came out with 32 oz. bottles of their summer refreshers. I had to have the Berry Hibiscus Lemonade (with a twist, of course). Delish!

All night I kept smelling Lemongrass (which I am obsessed with) and I tried to find the person wearing Lemongrass perfume. Turns out the delicious smell came from Spin-Spun- the gourmet all natural cotton candy bar! I also tried their Salted Caramel- swoon! I am SO booking them for my next big bash.

Noktivo Spa, the Non-Toxic Spa & Beauty Boutique, was on site giving picture perfect manicures. When I was pregnant, I would have lived at this place! What a great option to avoid all the chemicals.

And what travel event could be complete without a FAMILY travel destination? Hilton Sandestin was on hand giving us the low down on their amazing resort. Family-friendly AND a spa? Can I go now?? They have been named as Conde Nast Traveler's "Top 150 Resorts," and #26 of the Top Spas in North America. Sunny the Sea Turtle even made an appearance!

In my swag bag, I received a pair of yurbuds earphones that are developed specially for women. They are a small size earphone that are guaranteed to never fall out- where have these been all my life!?

Other sponsors included Accessory Mercado- affordable trendy jewelry and accessories, GoPicnic- ready to eat shelf stable meals (perfect for those summer impromptu picnics), derma e- one of the largest natural skincare brands in the US, and La Fresh- natural beauty and skincare (with super convenient travel packs!).

What are your travel plans for the summer?
