Last month I shared with you that I am a member of the XFINITY SO FAST team. I think my kids are the most excited about having XFINITY in our house. We had an old TV in the playroom that was only used for movies. We upgraded the TV and hooked it up with XFINITY and have been using the X1 platform for about a month. It has turned our playroom (that is traditionally a living room) into more of a family space. The kids love having movie night in the playroom, sitting in their comfy bean bag chairs and picking a movie from On Demand. The personalization is taken to the next level with the X1 platform. The platform allows you to discover new favorite shows or movies based on what you have been watching. You can select a program and scroll down to "More Like This". You will see a list of similar movies and shows you might enjoy  or other programs with specific cast or crew members, simplifying the "what should I watch tonight". The kids LOVE finding out what X1 suggests they might want to watch. If you are a twitter junkie, you see what is currently trending by looking through the guide, The "trending Now" icon will show you what everyone's talking about so you don't miss out! How cool is that? We love when social media and television collide.

My husband is a huge football fan and of course that means that the kids are sometimes forced to watch Monday night football. (the horror) We realized how great the benefits to having a TV in the playroom the other night. The  X1 platform made football watching a football fans dream come true! The kids were able to watch Disney XD's Pants On Fire a movie they had been wanting to watch for while! They were quiet, happy and let daddy watch football in silence. XFINITY X1 for the win!

I know what you are thinking, a TV in the playroom could be dangerous. You are right but parental controls are easily accessible and easy to figure out. You can be in control of your television with a four digit PIN that lets you lock programs by rating, channels or titles, and that prevents unwanted purchases of XFINITY ON Demand or Pay Per View. You can also set up text and email alerts that notify you when an On Demand program is ordered. It is nice to know that once you set these controls, you can rest easy that your kids won't watch anything inappropriate.

If you haven’t checked out what Ty of @tysofast is up to yet, you’re missing out! He’s sharing tons of great life hacks and tips for residents of Chicago. My favorite one last month was "Got a stuck zipper? Try rubbing shampoo (or anything sudsy) on the area with a cotton swab. Should loosen it right up!" I love his every second counts message!
