Will is ONE!
It still has not sunk in. For our first BOY birthday party, we went with his nursery theme and did a rock party. Going with his nursery theme means decorations were simple. We pulled artwork from his room - the rock band canvases, Land of Nod birth announcement vintage poster, the big W and other decorations replaced our typical living room, hallway and kitchen decor. We used Birthday Express for our VIP backdrop, table decorations and lots of balloons.
When the little groupies, I mean guests arrived, they changed into their rock concert tees and then headed to the tattoo parlor for some custom ink.
Once they were ready to show off their attitude, the headed over to the VIP photo booth. Accessorized with sunglasses, leather jackets, guitars and a mic, these kids worked it. This could be my absolute favorite photo booth we've ever done!
After dinner the concert began. Alexis from Bubbles Academy brought her acoustic guitar and we rocked out to everything from Under the Sea, with parachute of course, to Taylor Swift. The birthday boy loved playing the kid size instruments and hanging out under the parachute.
Once we had worked up an appetite rocking out, it was time for CAKE! Will's cake was truly fit for rock royalty complete with a separate smash cake just for the birthday boy.
Unfortunately no amount of chanting EAT IT! EAT IT! by the big kids could get Will to take a bite. Maybe next year!
After all of the fun was done, guests took a star sugar cookie and their own set of 'drum sticks' for the road.
First birthday? We rocked it.
