Parenting is a tough job. It can be messy, try your patience and 'phases' can seem endless. But you haven't seen anything until you've tried to potty train a kid. Well, if you tried to potty train a child without the right tools and a plan. Will and I recently had a few of our friends over for a Potty Training Play Date.
We had snacks, put out loads of toys and had a blast sipping mimosas (cause potty training can get stressful!) and talking kid stuff.
Our goal, besides having a fun play date with friends, was to share tips and tricks that can make potty training less scary - for kids and parents! At the end of the fun, everyone left with a goodie bag that included a package of Pampers Easy Ups and the super cute and helpful book "It's You and Me Against the Pee".
There are a lot of things that make Pampers Easy Ups great for potty training kids. Most importantly, they leak 25% less than competitor brands. Pampers Easy Ups have an underwear like feel for growing toddlers and have kids' favorite characters - Dora and Thomas!
The graphics on the training pants fade when wet to give toddlers a visual clue of their progress. Pampers Easy Ups are available in size 2T/3T and 4T/5T.
Will couldn't wait to tear into his goodie bag and get started!
Will has quite a few months before we'll get started working on potty training but it's never too early to start talking about it to get babies used to the idea.
Here are a few Potty Training Tips from the authors of "It's You and Me Against the Pee" Julia Cook and Laura Jana, M.D. on how to help your child become a Potty Expert:
1. Always remind yourself that no matter how long it takes and no matter what potty training challenges you face, you and your child are on the same team!
2. Potty training is really potty learning. While your child is learning how to be a Potty Expert, be sure to focus on attempts and successes rather than accidents and near-misses.
3. Children are ready to become Potty Experts when they show interest in doing things all by themselves, follow simple instructions, imitate adults and older children and stay dry for 2+ hours.
