Madeline loves a good party. She also loves to plan them. When we started discussing birthday parties a few months ago she was very specific. "I want a Rainbow Unicorn Birthday Party." You got it, girl.
Pinterest has tons of ideas for rainbow parties. Going into this party we knew we HAD to have two things - a rainbow backdrop and a rainbow cake.
Our rainbow backdrop was made by hanging a red, orange, green, blue and purple plastic table clothes over our curtain rod. Our house is still new so we didn't want to tape to the walls or use push pins. Draping the table clothes lengthwise gave the perfect backdrop for our cake table and party decor.
A unicorn piñata also doubled as table decor. Unicorn lollipops were favors for the kids and looked adorable in an arrangement on the table. Tassels are still huge in party decor, and this rainbow string of tassels was a great back drop finishing touch. Framed photos of Madeline in party colors and a cute rainbow print from her bedroom completed the table decor.
When the guests arrived, they sat down to a box of crayons, white bag and unicorn coloring pages while they waited for the rest of the guests to arrive. Kids decorated their white bags for the piñata and put their crayons inside to take home as part of their favor.
Once all of the birthday girl's friends had arrived we sang Happy Birthday and cut the cake!
After the cake it was time to head outside for water fun! Isn't that how all Rainbow Unicorn parties go?
These girls have been friends since before they were 2!
The backyard had a Slip 'N Slide, bounce house and pool. It kept all 18 kids busy, busy, busy!
Thanks to our family and friends who made this day so special for our sweet Madeline Claire.
