Potty Training Made Easy #PampersEasyUps

Parenting is a tough job.  It can be messy, try your patience and 'phases' can seem endless.  But you haven't seen anything until you've tried to potty train a kid.  Well, if you tried to potty train a child without the right tools and a plan. Will and I recently had a few of our friends over for a Potty Training Play Date.

We had snacks, put out loads of toys and had a blast sipping mimosas (cause potty training can get stressful!) and talking kid stuff.

Our goal, besides having a fun play date with friends, was to share tips and tricks that can make potty training less scary - for kids and parents!  At the end of the fun, everyone left with a goodie bag that included a package of Pampers Easy Ups and the super cute and helpful book "It's You and Me Against the Pee".

There are a lot of things that make Pampers Easy Ups great for potty training kids.  Most importantly, they leak 25% less than competitor brands.  Pampers Easy Ups have an underwear like feel for growing toddlers and have kids' favorite characters - Dora and Thomas!

The graphics on the training pants fade when wet to give toddlers a visual clue of their progress.  Pampers Easy Ups are available in size 2T/3T and 4T/5T.

Will couldn't wait to tear into his goodie bag and get started!

Will has quite a few months before we'll get started working on potty training but it's never too early to start talking about it to get babies used to the idea.

Here are a few Potty Training Tips from the authors of "It's You and Me Against the Pee" Julia Cook and Laura Jana, M.D. on how to help your child become a Potty Expert:

1.  Always remind yourself that no matter how long it takes and no matter what potty training challenges you face, you and your child are on the same team!

2.  Potty training is really potty learning.  While your child is learning how to be a Potty Expert, be sure to focus on attempts and successes rather than accidents and near-misses.

3.  Children are ready to become Potty Experts when they show interest in doing things all by themselves, follow simple instructions, imitate adults and older children and stay dry for 2+ hours.

Visit Pampers.com for more information about Pampers Easy Up and how to make Potty Training a success!

Thanks to Pampers for sponsoring our Potty Training Play Date and this post.  All opinions are honest and my own.

Ivy Kids Kit Subscription Box

Review: As a former teacher, I was blown away by the activities included which all corresponded with the book! This particular kit included "Caps for Sale,"  a cute story about a peddler whose caps are stolen by monkeys in a tree. The kit didn't just include crafts- it also had activities that encouraged counting, sorting, and other important math concepts in such a fun and creative way. In fact, while I was writing this review, my 3 year old saw the photo of himself play the "Get Back the Caps" game and asked to play again! The instructions for each activity include ways to scale depending upon age and ability level. There are also questions to scaffold learning- Ivy Kids make it incredibly easy to think of all those ways to increase participation and education in a genuinely enjoyable and interesting way.

It also details the learning goals and developing skills that each activity revolves around. Connecting reading with other areas of learning is such an incredible way to encourage kids to learn! I told my son's pre-school teacher about this kit and am lending it to his class to use as a segment in the spring. These are games and activities that can, for the most part, be reused again and again at different age levels. This is going on my son's Christmas list this year- two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

Back To School Must Haves! #OshKoshFirstDay

One of our favorite things for the TLSF families is shopping for Back To School style with our kids. I have fond memories of shopping for back to school with my Great Aunt. She would come in every August from Florida and take me shopping without my mom. I was able to pick anything I wanted for Back To School. We had a great time shopping together and was one of my favorite back to school traditions. It is awesome to be able to pass on a similar shopping tradition to our kids. As the kids are getting older they all are developing their own style. OshKosh B'Gosh is an iconic brand  famous for durable quality.  Kristin and I grew up wearing it and it is fun to see our kids wear it too!

Want to know what is HOT for Back To School style this year? Here are the 10 Must Haves from OshKosh B'gosh this Back To School season.

1. Denim is the heritage of OshKosh B'gosh brand. On trend for fall are overalls and they go up to size 12. Girls will be stylish in denim skirts, jackets and shirts. Boys can find both skinny jeans or classic fit denim pants.

2. Girls TLC- Tunic and Leggings are easy and perfect for heading to school. The best part is that girls will be comfortable in the soft 100% cotton collection and still feel stylish.  Three colors of sparkly leggings this season will have the girls excited to get dressed in the morning.

3. Uniforms can be fun with the built in fashion collection. Mom will be excited to save 40% off on all uniforms.

4. OKO Tees are designed by designers in the New York office. My son loves the colorful, comfortable and collectible tees in great prints and graphics.  Girls will love the hearts and stripe graphics. Doorbuster Tees can be found for $5-$6.

5. Girls Active wear line has expanded to offer skirts and tees. Inspirational messaging, pops of neon, glitter and a fun attitude is a hit with our girls!

6. Boys Triple Jumper Pant is a favorite for Dylan. He wore these pants to school all the time last year. I love the great comfort, durability and that they have a new level of style this year.

7. Shoes from flats, to sneakers & high tops with sparkles will pair well with the girls active line. Boys will go crazy for cameo shoes.

8. Boys Fleece Pant is a staple in a boys wardrobe. We love to style these pants for a casual or more dressed up look.

9. Outerwear is an essential but also a great fashionable layering piece.

10. Essential Wovens are a classic for both boys and girls. We love the "borrowed dad" look for boys, complete with a tie!

You can stretch your budget when shopping at Oshkosh B'Gosh right now. They have  a lot of great deals, plus you can get 25% off with this coupon until 9/3/2014 online and/or in store.

Donate a new pair of jeans or make a cash donation to a great cause. OshKosh will match all denim donations with another item of clothing.  They have partnered with KIDS and Donorschoose.org to help local kids, teachers and schools trive. The campaign runs until September 17th.

The Very Fairy Princess Graduation Girl & Giveaway!

I had the great pleasure of getting to review TheVery Fairy Princess Graduation Girl by celebrated children's authors Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamiton. This is the sixth book to join the ever adorable and sparkly Fairy Princess Adventures Series.

In this new tale, Fairy Princess Gerry is getting ready to graduate! As graduation nears Gerry can't help herself feel sad as she empties her cubby, takes down her art work, and says goodbye to the class pet. Gerry's also a little nervous to say goodbye to her teacher, Miss Pym, and wonders if her new teacher will love her wings and crown as much as Miss Pym did. Thankfully Gerry realizes new things and people can bring their own sparkle, even when change can be difficult.

Being a fan of the Very Fairy Princess series, this was a delightful new read. Having a daughter who enjoys stories (especially when a Princess is involved) we really enjoyed this read since my preschool aged daughter was able to relate to most of the story line. My daughter's class has a pretend class pet so she especially liked how Princess Gerry has one too. With preschool and Kindergarten graduations coming up, The Very Fairy Princess Graduation Girl will make the perfect present for your little graduate!

We enjoyed the book so much Miss E just had to keep on reading! If your little one is a Very Fairy Princess, you can now download the free app.

We are excited to be giving one lucky ready a copy of The Very Fairy Princess Graduation Girl! a Rafflecopter giveaway

We were provided with a book for review purposes. All opinions are honest and our own.

American Girl's 2014 Girl of the Year, Isabelle, is a ten year old dancer from Washington D.C. who is striding ballet at a performing-arts school.  Isabelle is a gorgeous blonde doll with removable pink tipped highlights and girls will have so much fun with all of the mix and match dance outfits and accessories.

Three Isabelle books - Isabelle, Designs by Isabelle and To the Stars, Isabelle - will help girls peek into Isabelle's world.  And a movie based on Isabelle's stories will debut on DVD this summer.
