Sister Style with Matilda Jane

Matilda Jane knows how to coordinate prints.  My girls first wore Matilda Jane for photos when Madeline was 9 months old and Ellie was 3.  Here we are almost 5 years later and I am loving this collection more than ever.  Meet the Spring/Summer 2015 Matilda Jane Hello, Lovely collection!

Because of Matilda Jane's great patterns, it makes layering for Spring and Fall easy and fun.  Easter in the midwest is always a gamble, even in April.  We had a great Chicago day but still needed layers to skip the jackets.  Madeline's knot dress has a 3/4 length tee under it with the most adorable ruffled leggings.

Madeline is super slim, even leggings can be too big in the waist!  The adjustable straps of the knot dress plus the sash in the back really make this dress feel custom for her slender frame.

Ellie has a sweater from the new Tween Collection, 435, over her dancer tank dress.  The subtle pattern under the tulle on the dancer dress is the same as the apron on the knot dress.  It's those little details that tie the looks together and make photos look cohesive.

The new Matilda Jane Collection, Hello Lovely, just had its first summer release and it's packed with the cutest looks for girls this summer.  Here are a few of my favorite outfits.

You can view the entire Hello Lovely collection for baby, girls, tweens and women at MatildaJaneClothing.com.

12 cool gifts for Easter

When it comes the Easter Bunny filling our kids Easter baskets, we prefer as little candy as possible. Every year it seems that my kids get Easter candy from everyone in the family. They actually don't even end up eating much of the candy and I end up tossing it out.  I like to give them small toys, gifts to get ready for spring, arts & crafts and things they will love! I try to keep the gifts under $25. Easter Style with Isabel Garreton

It is finally March! I heard birds chirping this morning and that means spring will be here soon? We just need it to warm up and get the snow to melt. To get me out of the winter funk I like to think about spring and Easter. The pretty colors always make me happy! I want to introduce you to Isabel Garretón. They carefully craft and uniquely design a collection of children's clothing. We love that these dresses are a contemporary take on the time honored, heirloom quality clothing. Mia was over the moon when she got to pick out her Easter dress from the Isabel Garreton's Easter collection.

Mia chose the Timeless Dress with light blue sash. The name of the dress says it all. This dress is gorgeous and timeless. When the dress arrived at our house and we opened the box we both were  oohhhing and ahhhing. The details are beyond and the silk is gorgeous. The sash comes in 9 different colors and you can monogram it as well. Mia chose not to do a monogram. As a mom I love seeing my daughter radiate when she puts on something that makes her feel beautiful from the inside out.

Isabel Garreton not only has the gorgeous Easter collection but also designs First Communion dresses, Christening gowns, flower girl dresses and more.

Isabel Garreton's elegant designs are even more meaningful knowing that every stitch is made by artisans in Chile. For 20 years, she has supported more than 100 seamstresses and embroiderers and their families, giving them opportunities to earn fair wages, break the poverty cycle and educate their children. Social responsibility is woven into each and every one of her beautiful pieces. That is pretty special, right?

What will your kids be wearing this Easter?

Baby's First Easter with Babies R Us

Spring is almost here and Easter is right around the corner.  There is something so fun about baby's first Easter.  The changing of the seasons, the cute bunnies, babies and baskets.  It might be because I have two March babies and Easter was both of their first holidays that makes it so special.  But I just can't get over a baby in an Easter basket!  This is Will last year.  This year he'll be one and carrying his basket of treats all around the bunny trails!

Personal Creations Easter Basket Challenge

Personal Creations Easter Basket Challenge

Thank you to Personal Creations for sponsoring today's challenge! Easter baskets are so fun.  My kids love finding them on Easter morning and tearing through the grass to discover all of the goodies the big bunny has left them.  But what do you do with those baskets the other 364 days of the year?  Personal Creations challenged me to test out their personalized Easter baskets and then come up with a creative way to use the baskets once the holiday is over.  Not only did we all love the Easter baskets, but I solved two big problems at our house by reusing them in a new way.

First the Easter Bunny made an early delivery to our house to two very good new big sisters.

The baskets each came with the grass, a stuffed bunny, chocolate bunny, Peeps, chocolate eggs, mini chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and a few other candies - everything required for the perfect basket.

The girls were thrilled with their early surprise.

After sorting through all of their goodies, we emptied the baskets and were ready to reuse them in a new way.  We recently moved into a new house and I've been struggling with how to keep hair accessories organized.  I went to our local big box store and purchased two lunch box kits that had three sizes of small plastic containers.  The containers fit perfectly into each basket.  Then I filled each girls' basket with their hairbrush and favorite hair clips, rubber bands and headbands.  Here is the result:

We kept things simple - Ellie has a purple room, she gets a purple hair brush.  The polka dot liner is a cute addition to her dresser and it looks like the basket was designed to be a hair caddy!

Madeline's new room is pink so she picked a pink hair brush and her favorite accessories for her hair caddy.

The portability of a basket is key for those hectic mornings getting everyone ready and out the door for school.  And the baskets are ready to be used year after year.
