Hamilton is the hottest ticket in town. I was lucky enough to be part of a group and snagged 4 tickets before they went on general sale to the public. Who did I take? My sister and my two daughters.

My girls have been listening to the Hamilton soundtrack since it came out and, like just about everyone else, became totally obsessed. They were dying to see the show and because I had face value tickets, I made their year by taking them.

This is not their first Chicago show. They've seen Newsies, Matilda, Lion King and countless local shows. I was a little worried that it would go over their head or they would think it's fun but not appreciate it.

I was wrong. At ages 7 and 9, the girls were both sitting on the edges of their seats through the entire show. At intermission they couldn't stop thanking me for bringing them.

If they were Hamilton obsessed before, seeing the show brought them to a whole new level! On the way home we decided we would see it again.

There is some adult language in the show but when we sing along in the car we just skip those words. Since a lot of the music is rapped, most of it, thankfully goes right over their heads. But it is something to be aware of. Also there is an affair but in the music and the show, it is easy for kids to miss.

Hamilton was the best show I've ever seen. It's kind of a cross between Les Mis and Rent. It is inspiring and the lyrics stay with you.

If you are in Chicago, more tickets have been released through Sepetember and are available at face value.

Have you taken your kids to Hamilton? What did they thing?
