The Balance of Back To School for mom

My kids both headed back to school one week ago. I love my kids so much, we had an amazing summer going on a lot of adventures. By the end of the summer, I was exhausted. You would of thought that having an empty house during the day would have me jumping for joy, right?  I was that mom crying when I walked into the house after seeing them get on the bus. The feeling is strange and hard to put into words. I am now in a new chapter trying to find my place and getting into a regular routine.

back to school 2015

In order to find a happy balance for myself while they are in school, I realized I need to plan out my week every Sunday. This will help me more productive on a daily basis.  Starting with a workout is key especially for my own sanity when it gets cold outside.  I am trying to do this 3 days a week. back to school 2015

I  have also realized that I am much more productive getting work done when I am not in my house. I like to work from my local Starbucks or library. My travel companion is my ASUS Intel 2 in 1. I love that it is small, can easily fit into most of my handbags. Two things that I love most about my Intel 2 in 1, is it's light weight and the battery life is better than my laptop. I have been able to set up the OneDrive and can share/access documents  and photos that are on my laptop from my Intel 2 in 1. How cool is that?

I personally love using the keyboard but in a quick second I can detach it and use my ASUS has a tablet. Which comes in handy when I am doing research on pinterest or just want to get on facebook.

The next few weeks I hope to find the perfect balance and happiness for me with a regular schedule.

How do you handle having a quiet house during the day?

My new Travel Companion: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi #intel2in1

At the end of April I headed to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Mom 2.0 summit. It was my second year attending this conference and it is a favorite. It is always wonderful to network, connect in person with bloggers/media companies that I only talk to online or on the phone and I  also attended some great educational sessions. When I travel especially for blogger events or conferences, I don't like bringing my laptop if possible. It gets heavy and usually it just gets in the way. I do need to bring some kind of tablet, notebook or laptop to access all of our social media accounts.  I was sent the ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi  test out and it came at the perfect time!

The Intel 2 in 1  is a Windows laptop with a keyboard that detaches, turning it into a Windows tablet. Two devices, in one cool package.  It is only 1.3 pounds which makes it perfect for tossing in your bag and bringing it with you where ever you go. It has an all day battery life (10 hours), no need to bring your charger with you. I am already a windows user, using the T100 chi is seamless  for me.

I was able to catch up on emails and blog posts at the airport using the keyboard. When I am on the airplane alone without children, I like to relax and watch a show or two.  The keyboard is magnetic, detach it and you have a tablet! How cool is that?

This is my mommy's new baby and the kids aren't allowed to touch it! They have already taken over our other tablets in the house.

What device is your must have for travel?

Kazaz! an awesome app for kids!

The truth is that these days most of us are tech families, whether we want to be or not. We are one of those families. We are an Apple family, own multiple iPhone's, iPad's, iPod's and an Apple TV.  As a tech family, good apps are important. There are a lot of bad apps out their for both adults and kids. I am always on the look out for good apps that  my kids will learn while using, will engage them and that they will not get bored using after 5 minutes! I am sure you are like me and have downloaded  an app that  doesn't meet your criteria  and the worst part you spent money on it!

I was excited to have Dylan check Kazaz!, a new an exciting  iPad app featuring a world of interactive, animated, original stories that will challenge and ignite your child's curiosity! Dylan is in Kindergarten for only half day, I obviously do not want him on the iPad all the time but there are times when it is necessary. Kazaz! was created for children 3 to 8 years old and designed to enjoy independently or with their parents, grandparents or caregiver. It is an app that fits my criteria and one that Dylan loves too. Win for both of us!

Ideal for children ages 3 to 8, the digital stories combine sight, sound and touch to help maximize even the youngest child’s learning experience.  As a mom I love that with Kazaz! they don't just read they experience it! Kids will want to read and use the Kazaz! app which is awesome. Kids will be encouraged to read while using the app. They will be immersed in learning when clicking on hidden gems that are found throughout the app  which reveal fun facts and additional information that is related to the story. This means that a 10 minute read can be expanded into a highly engaging activity that can last for an hour!

In the future Kazaz! will take advantage of Apple TV, the app can be enjoyed on the big screen, where the experience will be  amplified with additional sights and sounds. Stay tuned for video versions of the stories that will  appear on the Kazaz! Kids YouTube Channel.

Guess what??? Kazaz! is free to download  to your iPad until the 26th of October! Hurry on over and grab it for your kids. You will be able to get three stories that will cost from $1.99 to $2.99 after the 26th.

o   The Magic of Kazaz: Reveals the history of how Kazaz! became a magical planet.

o    I Am the Music Man: Sing along with the Music Man in this hand-clapping, toe-tapping rendition of a classic children’s melody.

o    The Story of Wooding: The tale of an adventurous young swan who sets off on an exciting journey.
