The Chicago Baby Show took place last weekend at Navy Pier and was a great success. The best baby brands were all together in one spot to compare strollers, slings, high chairs and everything in between. We had a hard time narrowing our Best In Show down but here are our top picks....

Not only are we getting ready to head back to school, we are also heading back to activities. I've mentioned my daughters are dancers, but they also love gymnastics.
I moved to Chicago after graduating from college over 18 years ago. From the moment I arrived in Chicago I fell in love with the city. Chicago is a very special city. Its well known for its architecture and of course food! There is nothing better than summer in Chicago. Am I right? We all enjoy the lakefront, the RiverWalk , sports (go cubs!) , festivals and much more!
One of the best way to take in the architecture is from the Chicago River. I have been on several tours on the river but this summer I discovered Chicago Electric Boat Company. I had no idea that you could rent an electric boat and take a cruise on the river!
I am still hanging on to summer (luckily the temperatures have been cooperating) and booked a 2 hour cruise last Saturday with the Chicago Electric Boat Company. I gathered Kristin, my sister, mom and sorority sister and we packed up some snacks and sangria to head out for a cruise on the river!
It was a perfect September day. We cruised all the way down to China Town and back to the Lake Michigan Locks. It was a great way to take photos of our favorite city.
Chicago Electric Boat Company makes the experience safe and easy. You meet them on the river front below House of Blues. They will validate your parking if you park at the House of Blues. You watch a video, a captain will go over safety instructions, how to drive and you will also receive a walkie talkie that will allow you to communicate with the Chicago Electric Company. You will then be on your way! You can get a captain to drive the boat for an additional charge.
We received a 2 hour boat trip by Chicago Electric Boat Company for review purposes. Our opinions are honest and our own.
The Chicago Children's Museum has lots to offer both little and big kids. Everything is very hands on and interactive at this museum. Its very easy to navigate through especially with little kids. In the summer you could enjoy the museum and then enjoy everything Navy Pier has to offer outside!
Welcome to 1954! We're celebrating the release of the brand new American Girl BeForever doll, Maryellen, with a swingin' Sock Hop! Grab your poodle skirt and let's go!Maryellen is the American Girl doll that every grandma has been waiting for. Set in 1954, Maryellen is a great way to get girls and grandmas talking about their life growing up. Betsy's mother-in-law and my mom came with us on American Girl experience to Maryellen's Sock Hop.
Ballet Chicago had their dance troupe at the Westin to demonstrate and teach us some of the '50s most famous dances like the Stroll and the Hand Jive.
Everyone loved watching the Ballet Chicago dancers but it got really fun when the girls took the dance floor!
Besides the dancing, Maryellen was on display as were some of her fun accessories. The Diner is on Madeline's holiday list. It comes with so many little pieces an accessories it looks like hours of fun!
Maryellen's Jukebox hooks up to your iPod and plays your own music. Her television set works with your iPad and you can create your own black and white movies that play on her tv! We love how American Girl is integrating technology with imaginative play!
The Sock Hop was one of American Girl's many events that are constantly taking place at all of their locations. This event cost $10 and anyone could attend. The girls all came dressed to 'hop' and everyone had the best time!
It was just the best day of grandmas, moms and daughters. Afternoon Tea is served on tier trays and the food was delicious as always! But most importantly, we have memories that will last forever.
You might have missed out on this Sock Hop, but guess what? You can host your own Maryellen Sock Hop at home!
American Girl has put together the perfect DIY kit for you to host a Maryellen Sock Hop at home! From invitations to games to decorations, this printable kit has you covered.
It would make the perfect theme for an American Girl Sleepover party or just for a day of family fun!
Thanks to American Girl for providing outfits, event tickets and afternoon tea to create an incredible day we'll never forget!
