Little Yogi

Last week my three year old daughter, Madeline, and I attended a Parents As Teachers kids yoga playgroup.  The description sounded fun and we are all about fit and healthy kids so we decided to give it a try.  Little did I know my Madeline would fall in love with kids yoga and incorporate into our every day routine.

Our kids yoga class was taught by Reese Emery Ryzewski, author of The Yoga ABC’s.   She is a fitness expert and brought a copy of the book for each family to take home.  The best part of The Yoga ABC’s is that the book lies open flat so kids can pick a page, look at the illustration and do the pose.  As Madeline says, “I can do yoga ALL BY MYSELF.”  And she really can!

Look at that smile!  It started at A and didn’t let up until way past Z.  As it turns out, kids yoga is great for little bodies and it’s really easy to get your family started.  Here’s a little inspiration…

Bossy Baby Chronicles & a Giveaway!

When people told me that boys were hard to potty training, they weren’t lying! Dylan is 3 and it has been a struggle from the beginning to potty train him! He was first scared to sit on the toilet. I bought a potty seat and it remedied that problem. For a few weeks he was doing very well and now getting him to sit on the potty when I know he has to go to the bathroom is a chore! I was beyond excited when I was introduced to Bossy Baby Chronicles! Alexis Tande created books and reward charts for her own Bossy Babies is now offering them to everyone! She creates personalized books with charts for potty training, going to school and behavior!

Bossy Baby Chronicles

What I like about the Bossy Baby Chronicles personalized potty book is that it is simple and to the point. Dylan loves reading it with both Daddy and myself and is very proud when he hears his name! After reading the book a couple of times, Dylan would tell us what he needs to do. He loves placing a sticker on the chart once he completes a potty task.

I will be honest that potty training is still a work in process but Bossy Baby Chronicles is helping the process in our house!

I love the idea of the behavior reward chart and that might be arriving in our house very soon!;)

Alexis is giving one lucky reader a personalized Bossy Baby Chronicles Book of their choice!

First Grade Style: Mia

Mia started First Grade this year.  She is a girl with her own sense of style and longs for her first Matilda Jane dress.  Mia is a tough girly girly who likes pink best but would rather be playing outside.

For Mia, we are making her wish come true with the Matilda Jane Paisley dress.  A bright necklace from AikoArt is the perfect fun accessory to match.  The Kickers Franzine boots are available at TeaCollection.com and are great for special occasions or everyday wear.  Mia was excited to start brown bagging it this year so the Lunch Punch from Little Choux will give her friends something to talk about at the lunch table.  Lastly, my favorite book about two best friends, The Frog and Toad Collection is great for young readers to learn about friendship.

Kindergarten Style: Alexander

Alexander is a rad kid who just started kindergarten.  You know a kid who is obsessed with his purple Native boots has a style that surpasses the typical boy starting his elementary school journey.

It wasn’t easy, but here are our picks for Alexander – lover of Spiderman, the color blue and Jiu-Jitsu.  P.S. Isn’t he adorable?!

Kid Made Modern: Perfect Rainy Day Projects

If you are like me, the thought of a rainy day on summer vacation can leave you shaking in your shoes.  ”What are we doing today?” and “But I want to go outside!” are on repeat.

Thanks to Kid Made Modern, a line of kids crafts projects with a creative spin, the kids will be content crafting all day long.

From Comic Book Kits to Jewelry Making Kits to Make Your Own Board Books, Kid Made Modern has a project for everyone.  There are even entire projects made out of duct tape!  But what really stands out about Kid Made Modern is the quality of the supplies.  The colored pencils are easy to grip and sharpen, the paper is heavy and lets kids feel like real artists.  In fact, just the Mini Colored Pencils and drawing pad can keep my little artists busy all day long!

My five year old is coming up with ideas to write her first book a series of four from the Kid Made Modern Board Book Set and I see much jewelry making in our future this summer!  To see all of the Kid Made Modern projects, visit Target.com or head to your local Target in the kids craft section.

How do you beat the rainy day blues in your house?

Books For Mommy

One of our favorite gifts to give is a book. We think giving a sweet book from the kids is a great idea and one we have done in our home over the years. It is fun to look at the Mommy books that I have on our book shelves and know that they were given to me from the kids.

Let’s face it that Mommy is the one that reads most of the books, it is only natural that there are some books about her in the kids collection!  There are a lot of great Mommy books out there and we rounded up some of our favorites!
