Mickey Mouse Party

I’m excited to share with you this Mickey Mouse Party! I created a variety of “Mickey” treats for the two dessert tables.

Some of my favorite things about this party was creating the DIY details to add to this party. I found a lot of cute ideas on Pinterest. I bought black lanterns from Hobby Lobby and used card stock and hot glued ears onto the lanterns to make it into a Mickey Mouse head. Another idea I saw online was creating  Styrofoam Mickey heads. I bought Styrofoam balls and black paint and created these adorable little decorations to add to the dessert tables.

The back drops to each table were so simple and easy to create as well. All you need is foam boards, material, tacks, ribbon and scrap book paper. I created several Mickey banners with using scrap book and card stock paper. I made different size Mickey’s with black card stock and assembled everything onto the back drop. You can use this back drop idea with any kind of theme for your next party.

All of my party printables were created by Lauren Haddox Deisgns. I love using party printables for each of my parties because it helps tie in the entire theme throughout the party. Having a Mickey Mouse Party? Check out my Mickey Mouse Cookie Tutorial!

Three main colors were used along with a couple of patterns to make the party cohesive.  Owl party ideas for decorations include birdcages, mini flag pennants, mini yarn ball banners, a mini scrap banner and of course, a lot of owls. All of the printables were designed by Lauren Haddox Designs.

Strawberry Birthday Party

I’m excited to share with you this adorable Strawberry Birthday Party that I planned last weekend.  My client’s last name is Berry and she picked this cute theme to go along with her daughters 1st birthday party. It is a super sweet party for a little girl!

For this Strawberry birthday party I thought I would make a homemade scrap banner. I have made many banners  and I have to say this scrap banner is my favorite. I love how it fills the back ground with texture and dimension. It is also great because there doesn’t have to be any measuring and or sewing. That’s right, NO SEWING and it only takes 3 STEPS. This little project is a great addition to any birthday party.
Scrap Banner Tutorial | The Little Style File
Here is a tutorial of this quick and easy scrap fabric banner:
Supplies
  • Double sided fabric
  • String or thin ribbon
  • Scissors

You will want double sided fabric.  Most fabrics come with a print on one side and white on the other. This is fine if this is what you are going for, but I personally like my fabric to be the same on both sides. For the banner you see above I chose 6 different prints and I purchased a half a yard of each print.

STEP 1:
Cut slits into the fabric. Using your hands, tear off each strip of fabric. I cut my strips about 2 inches each. This is what is so great is you don’t have to be perfect, and all the sizes can be different.

STEP 2:
Loop the fabric strip over your string.
STEP 3:
Pull the two ends through the loop and pull tight!

Kids DIY Valentines

The other day, as I was cleaning the kitchen, my 6 year old, Abryn had been very busy and very quiet for some time.  When I noticed what she was working on I just had to share it!

She was making her own valentines for her friends at school.  With no help from mom, she drew 2 little hearts on the outside and colored them red and then on the inside wrote “i love you.” She was very proud of herself and even asked me to video tape her! At that I laughed, but I thought a few pretty pictures and a quick tutorial would help your littles get started.  There is just something about receiving something handmade.

DIY Valentines

For the kids version of DIY Valentines, here is what you need:

-Paper, or card stock in any color (target) has a great $1 section filled with all kinds of valentine stickers, paper, envelopes etc.

- Envelopes + liners if you want to add a bit of detail

- Markers

- Valentine Stickers

- Glue Stick

Write a sweet little note on the inside of the card or use some of the classic valentine lingo like “your rad,” “be mine,” “so sweet,” “hugs,” etc.

Next decorate the envelope with stickers or hand drawn hearts and place the card in the envelope. Now for the glue…

Abryn’s favorite part, use the glue stick to secure the envelope down or a big sticker and voila, pretty handmade valentines!

Spiderman Birthday Party

I love facebook because you get a peek into your friends and even neighbors’ worlds that you may not know about! My neighbor Natalie, threw the most AMAZING Spiderman Birthday Party for her son’s 7th birthday last week. How did I find it? You guessed it on facebook! Natalie is an amazing party planner and you can check out all her fabulous parties on her blog Wonderfully Made Events. A good party planner makes planning a party look easy and that is what natalie does! Natalie purchased the adorable Spiderman Birthday Party printables from Bird’s Party.

spiderman party We adore all the detail Natalie put into this party. She made all of the desserts herself! She made Spiderman cookies, m&m cookies, chocolate covered Oreo comic pops, Spiderman cupcakes and Spiderman cake pops. Natalie had her son choose all the food and Caden did a great job! To keep 7 year old boys busy during a party, you need to have games! They played “spider hunt” where the boys had to find all of the hidden spiders in the back yard. No spiderman party is compelete without “web wars” with silly string! They also played spiderman freeze tag using a ball.  Natalie is going to give us a spiderman cookie tutorial in the next couple of days, be on the look out! For additional party information, visit Natlaie’s blog.
