Let’s Get Lost | Ugg Sandals

Last Saturday we had the amazing opportunity to take our families to the UGG Australia concept store in Chicago. We are all familiar with the UGG Australia brand and of course their boots are a favorite of TLSF. When we walked into the store we were amazed by the array of colors and the wonderful selection of summer shoes for the entire family. I was dying over all of the amazing sandals that were on trend and comfortable!  Comfort is key when you are spending hours out with your family on a summer adventure but you don’t want style to suffer!

The kids had a blast trying on their favorite UGG sandals and walking out with a new pair of shoes for the summer! We headed to the Lincoln Park Zoo for a day of fun. If you are visiting Chicago this summer, the Lincoln Park Zoo is a must see destination. The kids had fun spending time with each other & exploring the zoo.

It was hard to get the kids to leave the zoo! They could of slept there if we would have let them.

I adore my new Assia wedges and already have received a million compliments. They can be worn to dress up a pair of shorts, boyfriend jeans or a great summer dress. Kristin has already gotten a lot of use out of her Salah sandals and have become a fast favorite.

Every Day A Play Day: A boy outisde

This week in Chicago I have been singing “Rain Rain Go Away!” My 3 year old partner in crime doesn’t let the rain stop him and the other day we went on a worm hunt! The ground isn’t warm enough and of course we didn’t find any worms…..but he did enjoy playing in puddles.

Lendperk Giveaway!

If you are like us, when we go to an event or a wedding that requires us to get all dressed up and out of our mom uniform, we get really excited! Of course would prefer to wear a new dress to every event or wedding that we attend but that isn’t in our budget right now! We normally go for that little black dress we have in the closet that we can transform with different accessories.

When we were introduced to Lendperk about a month ago I was beyond excited! Lendperk is the “netflix” of dresses. You are able to rent one dress a month for $20 and keep it for 2 weeks. If you have a lot of events and parties to attend you can rent an unlimited about of dresses in one month for $49! Cool right?

The part we like the most about Lendperk are the dresses! The dresses are all from Anthropologie, Modcloth etc.. They are dresses that will have everyone talking about when you are out on the town!

Lendperk Giveaway

Kristin and I attended the event in Chicago a few weeks ago. This was a perfect occasion for us to use Lendperk! I picked out adorable gold and red dress for the occasion. The thing I liked about lendperk the best was that since I was only “borrowing” the dress, I could pick something that was a little out of my comfort zone. If I was paying $200 for the dress, I probably wouldn’t have bought it. I love that renting dresses from LendPerk allows you to try a different look, not break the bank and regret it later! You can step out of your comfort zone for a night!

LendPerk | The Little Style File

I cannot tell you how many compliments we both recieved on our dresses that night! People were stopping us all night long and asking us where our dresses came from!

Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘N Style Luxury Mansion

My girls love a play date.  And they love Barbie.  So when we had the chance to invite friends over to play with the new Mega Blocks Barbie Build ‘N Style Luxury Mansion?  Let’s just say there was lots of shrieking involved.

Mega Bloks Barbie Build 'N Style Luxury Mansion | The Little Style File

I knew the girls would love the Barbie Mega Bloks at first, but I wasn’t sure how long they would really play with the toys. When planning the play date, I made sure to have back up activities ready to go just in case.  But to our surprise, the girls played with the Mega Bloks for hours.

Here, take a look!

All of the girls had a blast.  They played individually and they played together.  Rooms were redecorated and Barbie (and friends) made about 100 wardrobe changes throughout the afternoon.

Besides having fun with their girlfriends, each guest received a fun parting gift to bring the Mega Bloks Barbie fun home to their own house!

The Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘N Style Luxury Mansion is still going strong at our house and we just know the girly girl at your house would love it just as much.

This Barbie Party was a blast and we are going to share all of the party details later this week.  For now we want to thank Mommy Parties for this opportunity and the products we received.  While products were provided for this post, all content is original and opinions my own.  Images for this post are by Tales of a Dream Photography and the FAB cake featured in the video is by Dessert Menu.

Strawberry Birthday Party

I’m excited to share with you this adorable Strawberry Birthday Party that I planned last weekend.  My client’s last name is Berry and she picked this cute theme to go along with her daughters 1st birthday party. It is a super sweet party for a little girl!

For this Strawberry birthday party I thought I would make a homemade scrap banner. I have made many banners  and I have to say this scrap banner is my favorite. I love how it fills the back ground with texture and dimension. It is also great because there doesn’t have to be any measuring and or sewing. That’s right, NO SEWING and it only takes 3 STEPS. This little project is a great addition to any birthday party.
Scrap Banner Tutorial | The Little Style File
Here is a tutorial of this quick and easy scrap fabric banner:
Supplies
  • Double sided fabric
  • String or thin ribbon
  • Scissors

You will want double sided fabric.  Most fabrics come with a print on one side and white on the other. This is fine if this is what you are going for, but I personally like my fabric to be the same on both sides. For the banner you see above I chose 6 different prints and I purchased a half a yard of each print.

STEP 1:
Cut slits into the fabric. Using your hands, tear off each strip of fabric. I cut my strips about 2 inches each. This is what is so great is you don’t have to be perfect, and all the sizes can be different.

STEP 2:
Loop the fabric strip over your string.
STEP 3:
Pull the two ends through the loop and pull tight!

Meet The New Stokke Strollers

On this past Monday I had the privilege of attending the launch party for the newest Stokke strollers - Scoot and Crusi - that was held by Momtrends.

This event was took place at the Glasshouses in NYC where the guests of honor were displayed in a parking lot with reserved spaces for each stroller. This gave guests the opportunity to look at the strollers and get a feel for them. I must say pushing one of these babies felt like you were pushing clouds. The wheels glide right over bumps which makes it a smooth ride for baby.

Stokke Stroller

Upon arrival each guest was greeted by champagne and Nicole Feliciano, Founder and Editor of Momtrends and Sherri Shubert, Event Manager of Momtrends. The plan for the night was explained to you and you were sent on your way. Each guest had the opportunity to choose accessories from stella&dot and Brahmin, stroller accessories from Stokke, and a stroller to take a pic on the Red Carpet. Nicole helped me do a little shopping for my red carpet look. The women kept it fashionably cute while the guys kept it cool and funny.

There was a Q&A segment with Hilde Angelfoss, the Director of Inspiration and Design (creative genius behind the Xplory). She answered any and every question that was thrown at her. She let us know that Stokke builds their strollers with the best interest of the child in mind. She also stated that when deciding on which stroller is best you should think of the child first. Ask yourself questions like, “Will my child be comfortable?” or “Can my child see me?”.

After the Q&A segment there was a demonstration of how each stroller worked and how to fold them. Trust me it’s easier than they actually look. So easy that when demonstrated everyone’s mouth dropped.

It was a really fabulous event and I look forward to more. Thank you Nicole, Momtrends, and Stokke for a good time and the awesome swag bag. Baby Rhyan is appreciative of the items.

Torly Kid

Last Sunday was all about the kiddies and boy did we have fun. Baby Rhyan and I set out towards the big city to attend the Save the NY Aquarium Kid’s Festival at Torly Kid. It was the highlight of our day and we had fun for a good cause. There were crafts, educational activities, movies, and food.

The festival was held to raise money for the NY Aquarium that suffered severe damage during Super Storm Sandy back in 2012. The aquarium has been shut down ever since and has been moving towards making repairs to prepare to reopen. I can’t wait because I am so anxious to go. Kimberlyn J. Acevedo, Coordinator of Volunteers for the NY Aquarium, was on hand to teach the kids about marine life and animals.

The jellyfish making station, where the materials used were coffee filters, crepe paper, water, and markers transformed into jellyfish, was by far the coolest station. Simple materials made big fun for the little ones. I admit I was tempted to make my own, but Baby Rhyan was too young for that craft. But the boutique owner, Carol Adams, did not have a problem getting down with the kids. She was amazing.

Here is a craft that Baby Rhyan and I were able to participate in, fish decorating. We made our girly colored fishy using crepe paper and googly eyes. We named her Bzzsbzbzsbb (it’s the spitting sound Baby Rhyan gave when I asked what her name would be). I love it.

The biggest hit of the festival for the adults were glitter tattoos. Baby Rhyan was too young to get any face paint or a glitter tattoo, which lasts for 2 weeks, so I sat in her place. It was quite fun and was pretty spectacular. I love my mermaid.

Carol Adams who is the owner of Torly Kid, opened her fun hip boutique in 2004 where it was formally called Babylicious. You can find fashionable pieces for your newborn to your tween. The clothes are unique and cool; no wonder they are known for being the “go-to” spot of Tribeca for anyone looking for something different for the littles. You can shop their website and I could not help myself so I had to give you my top picks.
