As busy moms, we are always looking for a fun and easy “go to” gift that can be given to anyone on our list! When we discovered Sugarwish on Instagram a few months ago we were very excited and couldn’t wait to share this company with you. We love candy, great packaging and a wonderful concept and that is what you get with Sugarwish.

Two busy moms created Sugarwish because they wanted a fun and thoughtful gift to give to their receivers. That’s when they decided to make a website where the giver could choose the gift (in this case, candy) and then the receiver could personalize it, by choosing details of the gift, which in this case… their favorite CANDY! That is how Sugarwish was born!

#MCShowLIVE Cooking Talkshow

We are excited to join, Johanna Cook of Momma Cuisine on her #MCShowLIVE Cooking Talkshow tomorrow! We will be talking about outfits for the mom on the go and how you can shop your closet for a night out for Valentine’s Day.

February is both Valentine’s Day and Heart Health Month. Johanna has some great guests for you this month! First, is Vh1 Mob Wives Chicago cast member, Christina Scoleri talking to us about her experience on the show and dishing on motherhood and learning how to cook up her favorite Italian foods, dairy free for her daughter who can’t have dairy in her diet.

For the “Healthy Momma” segment is University of Chicago Cardiologist, Alice Perlowski, M.D., teaching us about heart health, and how women can keep their hearts strong and healthy.

It’s February! I love the month of love. Sometimes the month of January can feel so long and gloomy post-holidays, so when the calendar flips to February, I’m ready to get into the Valentine’s spirit! We get our paints and crayons and begin crafting Valentine’s cards for all our sweet friends, we begin searching the internet for sweet treats to bake, and we peek into our closets to find reds and pinks for the perfect kids Valentine’s Day clothes. I have two daughters who are as girly as can be, so they prefer the pinks, of course!

Here are some pretty doses of pinks that I’m loving for girls, boys & babies:

If you’re like me, you prefer the classic reds. Before my little ones had strong opinions, I’d find the cutest little red outfits for them (I can still get away with dressing my 1.5-year-old, but her older sister always wants a say in her outfits). One year, I found the coolest Snoopy Valentine tee from a thrift store, which I made my older daughter wear the full month of February to get all the possible use out of it. I obviously can’t repeat that find, but I did find some other sweet reds that are available in stores right now.

There are plenty of ways to make-do with what you have in your closets as well! Just look for some brightly colored patterns with hints of reds and pinks, mix and match patterns (polka dots + stripes are easy to mesh), add bright accessories, and they’re good to go.

Dressing festively doesn’t always have to mean spending extra money and extra time! Sometimes it’s just about using what you have!

Valentine Date Nights

As a mom, date night can often be more hectic than hot: a screaming tot tosses her cookies on your outfit, you haven’t had time to get those highlights you so desperately need. Here’s a tip- book the sitter an hour early and take your time getting ready. Primping can be an event unto itself! Great tunes, a glass of champagne…relax and reinvigorate. Here’s what to wear on Valentine’s Day night.

Now is the time to invest in a new LBD if you haven’t updated your look in years. This number can get you from date night to business meeting to dancing ‘till dawn (ok, midnight) if you accessorize appropriately.

If you are feeling a little overlooked lately, spring for a red hot number and flaunt your favorite asset. Great legs? Try a slit. Enviable eyes? Select a color-enhancing hue. The goal is to feel confident and sexy. You know what your best asset is- if you don’t ask, your date. Never hurts to get an extra compliment!

One of my all time favorite parties to host is a Favorite Things party with my girlfriends, and what better event than Valentine’s Day to celebrate the love! Have each friend bring 5 of the same gift worth $5 each. At the end of the night, everyone goes home with five fabulous finds, curated by your inner circle.

A night in with friends calls for comfort, but not of the sweats and no make up variety (save that for the inevitable flu this season). One of my go-to home party outfits is a great pair of skinny jeans matched with a loose sweater. This allows you to get comfy on the floor but still amps up the chic vibe.

I have tried on dozens of pairs of skinny jeans, and am amazed to admit my favorite pair comes from Forever 21. At around $11, these hug your curves without robbing your wallet.

Maybe you have a beloved Cheers-esque restaurant, and it gives you great comfort knowing they make a mean martini just the way you like it (shaken, with diamond-like ice chips floating on the surface). Don’t settle for your everyday uniform. A wrap dress in jersey or cotton keeps it casual while cinching your waist. Show a little cleavage or make it modest by adding a lace camisole. Pair with knee high boots and chunky jewelry.

Chic Little Valentine

Valentine’s Day is almost here and in honor of that, I’ve found some super cute girls Valentine’s Day outfits. I love clothes, but since I’ve had a daughter, I seem to do a lot more shopping for her than for myself! So stylish and chic, I sometimes wish the clothes I find for my little girl fit me too!

1) These heart print skinny jeans by Gap are adorable. So on trend with fashion that I would love to wear them, and of course, so many little girls would love to have tiny hearts on their jeans! Pair them with a long sleeve tee and sweater during the colder days and then for spring, a cute short sleeve tee will look cute!

2) This beautiful heart dress by Pink Chicken is so sweet. Pink Chicken makes some of the cutest clothes out there, and better yet, they also make a small line of clothing for us mamas! A long sleeve tee underneath the dress paired with tights would look cute for colder weather, and then just some cute sandals in the warmer weather will do just fine!

3) This long sleeve heart tee by J. Crew is great. It can pretty much go with anything – leggings, jeans, skirt with tights, and during the warmer weather, long sleeve tee’s always come in handy at the beach or lake when the weather gets cooler in the evening.

4) These pink butterfly sandals from Old Navy are too cute. Again, if they came in our size we’d be stylin’! These sandals look cute with just about anything, and my daughter loves the butterfly pattern which makes them all the more exciting!

5) I love this heart hoodie from Old Navy as well. This is something I would buy in a size larger and just roll up the sleeves so my daughter could get two seasons out of it. So cozy and fun, it’s great for cool spring days or layered up for winter weather.

Kids DIY Valentines

The other day, as I was cleaning the kitchen, my 6 year old, Abryn had been very busy and very quiet for some time. When I noticed what she was working on I just had to share it!

She was making her own valentines for her friends at school. With no help from mom, she drew 2 little hearts on the outside and colored them red and then on the inside wrote “i love you.” She was very proud of herself and even asked me to video tape her! At that I laughed, but I thought a few pretty pictures and a quick tutorial would help your littles get started. There is just something about receiving something handmade.

For the kids version of DIY Valentines, here is what you need:

-Paper, or card stock in any color (target) has a great $1 section filled with all kinds of valentine stickers, paper, envelopes etc.

- Envelopes + liners if you want to add a bit of detail

- Markers

- Valentine Stickers

- Glue Stick

Write a sweet little note on the inside of the card or use some of the classic valentine lingo like “your rad,” “be mine,” “so sweet,” “hugs,” etc.

Next decorate the envelope with stickers or hand drawn hearts and place the card in the envelope. Now for the glue…

Abryn’s favorite part, use the glue stick to secure the envelope down or a big sticker and voila, pretty handmade valentines!
